All ASU games may be heard on KWHF 95.9 FM "The Wolf" and through the StateZone portion of AStateRedWolves.com. LiveStats will also be available at AStateRedWolves.com.
THE TEAMS: Arkansas State enters Tuesday night's game at 4-7 overall. In their last outing, the Red Wolves were defeated 75-49 by UALR Dec. 19 in their Sun Belt Conference opener, but ASU enters the SIU contest on a two-game non-conference win streak. Arkansas State defeated Northern Arizona (65-62) and Texas-Arlington (67-60) in its two previous non-conference games, winning both contests in overtime. Southern Illinois travels to Jonesboro at 1-7 on the year and fresh off of its first victory of the year. Arkansas State head coach Brian Boyer will be shooting for his 100th career victory at the Convocation Center when the Red Wolves take on the Salukis Tuesday night. Boyer stands at 99-4 as head coach on the Red Wolves' home floor. The Salukis defeated Murray State 76-71 in overtime Dec. 20, with senior forward Stephany Neptune pulling down a school-record 28 rebounds, the most in any Division I women's basketball game this season.
THE SIU SERIES: Although less than 200 miles separate the two schools, Arkansas State and Southern Illinois have met just once in women's basketball, with the Salukis edging ASU 79-76 last year in Carbondale.
THE COACHES: Arkansas State head coach Brian Boyer is in his 11th season at the helm of the Red Wolves program. Boyer holds a career record of 172-142 and has directed the Red Wolves to the Women's National Invitation Tournament four times, including three of the past five years. Boyer is assisted by Tanya Ray, Rebecca Peoples and Jennifer Sullivan. Missy Tiber is in her first season as head coach of the Salukis, coming to Southern Illinois from Division II Tusculum College, where she posted a record of 167-70 in eight years as head coach
