Teen gets 10 years in Forrest City shooting death

FORREST CITY, Ark. (AP) - A judge has sentenced a teenager to 10 years in prison for the February shooting death of a Forrest City man.

Nineteen-year-old Demetrius Bernard Tripp pleaded no contest to manslaughter in the death of 22-year-old Rodrick Williams.

Tripp had faced capital murder charges but pleaded to the lesser count and received a 10-year sentence, which was recommended by prosecutors.

According to police, officers found Williams inside a white Ford Explorer, bleeding from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Williams was pronounced dead at Forrest City Medical Center.
