JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A truck fire alongside highway 63 & 463 in Jonesboro Tuesday caused traffic to back up while fire crews battled to put out the flames.
Jonesboro Police and Fire crews responded to a call that a truck had caught fire on Highway 63, and was burning alongside the highway. When fire crews arrived, they had to shut down one lane of the highway while crews fought to put out the flames.
While doing so, the smoke from the fire became so thick, that police had to be called in to direct traffic because of low visibility. Nettleton Avenue, Willow road and Highway 63 were all affected by the smoke.
It took emergency crews about an hour to put out the fire, and open all lanes of the highways affected.
