Snowfall makes presence known in Region 8

NEWPORT, AR (KAIT) - Making itself known for the first time this winter in most parts of Region 8, snow fell to the ground in Newport, causing icy spots in some areas including roads and parking lots.

"I got out a little bit and snow was really coming down, but its melted off a lot compared to where it was last night," said Newport Resident Joe Guthrie.

Not much fell, but with temperatures in the 20s and even teens in parts of Region 8, what did often stuck. Roads had mostly melted by 11:00 a.m. Sunday, but some slick spots remained.

Many residents had either a positive view or a negative of the first snowfall of any significance for this winter.

"When snow comes, its like it brightens things up and once its sunny out, there's sparkles on the snow that make it look like a rainbow exploded," commented Eileen Hoppe, from a very creative and artistic perspective.

Charles Burgin had a very to-the-point view on the snowfall, however, "As far as I'm concerned, it can be the last one."
