Region 8 man charged with 1st degree murder

BLYTHEVIILE, AR (KAIT) – A 20-year-old Blytheville man is behind bar charged with 1st degree murder.

According to the Blytheville Police Department, Daitrell Talley was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged in the shooting death of 20-year-old Wendell Bobo.

Police say they responded to a call of shots fired at the intersection of 20th and West Ash Streets Thursday night. A few minutes later another call came in that a man, later identified as Wendell Bobo, was at the Great River Medical Center with a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Bobo was later airlifted to The Med in Memphis where he later died.

Police say they believe the shooting happened over a drug dispute, but that the investigation was ongoing.
Talley had his bond set at $300,000.

This is the 1st murder of 2010 in Blytheville.

Blytheville Police Chief Ross Thompson says the city has had 54 murders in the last 10 years, with 50 of those murders solved.
