LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A member of the Arkansas State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors is not pleased with a decision to rescind fines against a funeral home director and a funeral home.
The board voted Tuesday to dismiss a $1,500 fine against Miles Kimble and a $5,000 fine against his employer - Kincaid Funeral Services of Forrest City and Helena-West Helena. The board also reduced Kimble's 1-year suspension to probation.
The fines were levied Dec. 1 after the board found Kimble improperly solicited business from another funeral home.
Board member Garland Camper calls the decision "flat out wrong" and says he believes the board overstepped its authority. He says he thought the hearing was to discuss more time to pay the fines.
Other board members declined comment.
