Murder charges filed in double killing

SEARCY, Ark. (AP) - Prosecutors have charged a man with first-degree murder for the fatal shootings of 2 people at a residence near Searcy last week.

According to the White County Sheriff's office, Mark Lavon Sullivan was being held without bond Wednesday in connection with the shooting deaths of Robin Edward Berry and Audra Evans.

The sheriff's office received a call about 9:43 a.m. Friday that two people had been shot at Sullivan's home just west of Searcy.

Deputies discovered Berry and Evans with gunshot wounds, and Sullivan was present. Berry and Evans died at a Searcy hospital.

A jailer at the White County detention center said he didn't know if Sullivan had obtained an attorney.
