BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A level 4 sex offender is behind bars facing charges of possession of child pornography.

According to the Baxter County Sheriff's Department William Claude Shelton was arrested and charged with possession of child porn.

Police say Shelton took his computer into a local repair shop, and then investigators were contacted. Police say the information led them to believe it possibly contained child pornography. Police obtained a search warrant for the computer and found images and video of young boys.

Police then search Shelton's home in Midway, where they seized another computer, discs, and DVD's containing more than one thousand images of naked pre-pubescent males.

Shelton was convicted in 1989 for 2 counts of sexual abuse and sodomy for intrusive sexual contact with 2 males, ages 10 & 12.

Shelton is currently in the Baxter County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
