Road crews continue to work to clear roads

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Roads in Region 8 are still coated with ice and snow!  While it is melting off a little in some areas, road crews are still working to get rid of it!

District 10 Engineer Walter McMillian with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said crews are working in all seven of the counties he covers.  Those crews will be working on scraping and sanding the roads until eight o'clock Saturday night.  McMillan said after eight an overnight crew will take over spraying chemicals onto trouble spots.

"Ice has turned loose from the pavement and we've been able to plow it off pretty well and other areas of the district where there wasn't much sunshine it's pretty much covered," said McMillian.

Crews will be out to continue plowing the roads starting at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
