ASU Exacts Pioneer Payback With Saturday Sweep

(KAIT) - A week after getting swept by Florida Atlantic, Arkansas State swept Denver and exacted Pioneer payback. Denver beat the ASU men's and women's basketball teams in their previous meetings.

ASU Men 73, Denver 62

Saturday night was the Brandon Reed show. He torched the Pioneers for a career high 34 points, 24 of those in the first half.

Trey Finn was the only other ASU player to score in double figures with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Martavius Adams was 2 points and 2 rebounds shy of recording a double-double.

ASU shot 51 percent from the field and only committed 9 fouls in the victory.

Next up is UALR. They'll travel to Little Rock to face the Trojans Thursday night at 7:00pm.

ASU Women 74, Denver 58

Brian Boyer had three Lady Red Wolves in double figures as they beat the Pioneers 74-58 in the first game of the doubleheader.

Ebonie Jefferson led the way with 21 points, the fifth time she has scored at least 20 points this season. NeNe Hurst had 14, Shay Scott had 12. Lindsay Henke was 2 points and 1 rebound shy of recording a double-double.

The Lady Red Wolves shot 47 percent from the field in the win. They'll travel to UALR for a Natural State Showdown. Tipoff is Wednesday night at 7:00pm.
