BAGHDAD, Iraq--The skies over Baghdad are calm, but the war continues with word that more "shock and awe" is to come. A Pentagon spokeswoman said allied forces are making ``considerable progress'' in the war in Iraq. Victoria Clarke says it's only a ``matter of time'' before the Iraqi regime is destroyed. She warns that challenges lie ahead and that the situation in Iraq remains ``fluid.''

Allied troops advancing into Iraq came across burning oil wells today, apparently set on fire by Iraqi soldiers. Black smoke greeted British troops as they crossed the border early this morning. There are currently nine oil wells that are believed to be on fire .

Protests continued in New York and Chicago today. A crowd estimated at one hundred thousand marched down Broadway in New York City voicing their opposition to the ongoing war in Iraq.
