Man surrenders after police standoff

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT)- A Blytheville man is in police custody after threatening to shoot his mother and nephew.

Officers of the Blytheville Police Department responded to 1598 South Division Street residence of Dell Davis early Sunday morning, in regards to her son; Scott Davis threatening to shoot her and her 10 year old nephew.

Upon officers arrival Dell Davis had already fled the residence but the 10 year old remained inside.

Officers were unable to establish contact with Scott Davis by phone, loud speaker, or any other means.  After about 15 minutes the juvenile exited the residence unharmed.  No formal line of communication could be establish with Davis.

Later, Officers of the department Special Resonse Team deployed chemical agent into the residence in preparation of making forced entry.

During the deployment of the chemical agent, Scott Davis surrendered himself to Officers without further incident.

Scott Davis was transported to the Blytheville Police Department, and later detained at the Mississippi County Detention Center until court arraignment on Monday February 8, 2010.

He faces charges of Domestic Aggravated Assault, Endangering Welfare of Minor and Refusal to Submit Arrest.
