Former state Sen. Wooldridge to run for Congress

PARAGOULD, Ark. (AP) - Former state Sen. Tim Wooldridge of Paragould says he's filed paperwork to run for congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Marion Berry.

Wooldridge said in a news release Sunday that the paperwork was filed with the Federal Election Commission and says he'll formally announce next week.

Berry announced in January he would not run for re-election to the First District seat because of health reasons.

Wooldridge served eight years in each the state House and Senate from 1991 to 2006. He ran for lieutenant governor in 2006 - losing to Lt. Gov. Bill Halter in a runoff in the Democratic primary.
