Region 8 man charged with rape

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) – A Blytheville man is charged with rape, after police say he slept with an underage female.

According to Blytheville Police, 19-year-old Theodore Vance stayed all night with an underage female at her grandmother's home.

Police say they were contacted by the mother of the female in reference to her daughter having sex with a 19-year-old man. Police say the underage female spent the evening with her grandmother on February 7th. During the early morning hours, the grandmother checked on the female and found Vance in the bed beside her granddaughter.

Police say Vance then ran from the area after the grandmother contacted the female's mother.

During the investigation, police say it is alleged that the female juvenile did have consensual sex with Vance. Police say based on the information provided and the age of the participants, a warrant was issued for Vance.

Vance is charged with rape and had his bond set at $150,000.
