Web Weather Wednesday returns

Jonesboro, AR (KAIT) - Web Weather Wednesday has returned with many questions from viewers about the weather.

The first question was from Robert Rowland. He asked, "Does KAIT have any new weather tools for severe weather season 2010?"

This year the newest tool that the Region 8 StormTEAM has is the Hardy cam and weather station. This will provide current conditions such as temperature, wind speed and direction, precipitation amounts and much more for Hardy.

Let's not forget about the camera. Here is an example of how much this can help. Many times tornado warnings are issued based on rotation detected by Doppler Radar. Although Doppler Radar is a fantastic tool, the Hardy camera will give the Region 8 StormTEAM a first hand look to see if a storm is producing a tornado in that area. Cameras in other cities in the United States have done just that. We also have cameras in Jonesboro and Paragould for a birds eye view in those locations.

The next question was from Tyler Burrow. He asked, "Could we get another good round of snow in the coming weeks?"

The quick answer is yes!  We still have a few more weeks of winter to go because spring officially begins on March 20. Also the current weather pattern appears to be locked in place. With El Niño we have an active southern storm track and with cold air still around, we still have the chance for more snow.
