Clay Helton Leaves ASU For USC

Jonesboro (KAIT) - After two months, head coach Steve Roberts is back to square one in terms of finding a offensive coordinator.

Clay Helton will leave Jonesboro for a spot on Lane Kiffin's staff at USC. The news first broke Wednesday from ESPN college football reporter Bruce Feldman. ASU sent a press release confirming Helton's resignation Thursday.

Before coming to ASU, Helton was the offensive coordinator at Memphis for the past three seasons. Roberts hired Helton on December 24th.

Roberts said the following in the press release: "We are very appreciative to Clay for the job he did while he was here. He came across an opportunity he couldn't pass up and we wish him the best.  We have already started the interview process to find the right fit for our program and we are confident we will be able to accomplish that task."

The Red Wolves begin spring practice next month.
