Lafayette, LA (KAIT) - John Brady and the Red Wolves had no players score in double figures, had 19 turnovers and outrebounded the opposition 40-32. Yet ASU took the Ragin Cajuns down to the wire. But Louisiana-Lafayette had two players score in double figures and held on for a 56-54 win in the final ASU road game of the regular season.
In the final 10 seconds, Daniel Bryant and Jejuan Brown each had shots to tie the game, but they were denied by Colby Baptiste and the rim respectively.
Tyren Johnson led all scorers with 15 points, while Randell Daigle chipped in 10 for the Ragin Cajuns.
Martavius Adams led ASU with 9 points and 16 rebounds. Jeremy Thomas and Trey Finn each had 8 points. Nine different Red Wolves scored on Thursday.
The loss places ASU in a five-way tie for the Sun Belt lead. The Red Wolves, Middle Tennessee, Troy, Florida Atlantic, and North Texas are all 10-5 in conference. ASU has tiebreakers over the Blue Raiders and the Mean Green, but would lose out to the Owls. The Red Wolves close out the regular season with the Trojans next Saturday.
ASU's final three games are at home, starting with the Blackout Saturday night against Western Kentucky. Tipoff is at 7:05pm.
