BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – Two people are behind bars after police say they were trying to send illegal substances to an inmate.
According to the Baxter County Sheriff's Department, Thomas Flippin tired sending tobacco and cocaine to inmate Ashley Tharp on two separate occasions.
Police say on November 23, Flippin tried sending tobacco and rolling papers through the mail to Tharp. Police confiscated the envelope, but the Prosecuting Attorney's Office declined to file charges.
On December 15, police Flippin then tried to end an "orange substance" through the mail to Tharp. Police sent the unknown substance to the Arkansas State Crime Lab, who later confirmed it was cocaine naloxone.
Police have charged both Flippin and Tharp with criminal attempt to furnish prohibited articles. Both are in the Baxter County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond. Their next court appearance is set for March 11.
