Jonesboro (KAIT) - Brian Boyer and the Lady Red Wolves were thinking pink in the WBCA Pink Zone game for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. They were also thinking of their seventh straight home win.
But Western Kentucky had other ideas. Kenzie Rich had 23 points and Arnika Brown had 21 in a 83-74 Lady Hilltopper win.
ASU led 30-24 with five minutes to go. Western closed out the first half on a 13-4 run to take a 37-34 halftime lead and pulled away in the second half.
Ebonie Jefferson was one of three Lady Red Wolves in double figures, scoring 20 points. NeNe Hurst had 16 and Shay Scott had 15. Lyndsay Schlup was 2 points shy of a double double with 8 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 steals.
The loss drops the Lady Red Wolves to 11-16 overall, 6-10 in the Sun Belt. They'll host New Orleans Wednesday night with tipoff scheduled for 7:05pm.
