CHARLOTTE, Ark. (AP) - William and Quindora Coe of the Charlotte community in Independence County can look back on more than 50 years' of marriage that stemmed from her forgetting her purse.
William says the woman who was then Quindora Taylor left her purse behind after a basketball game between Witts Springs, where Coe was teaching and coaching, and Snowball, where Quindora was a teacher.
It was his job to clean up the Witts Spring gym after games, so he took it upon himself to return the purse.
A date with Taylor and another couple followed, and he had given her a ring within a few months. That was all in 1958 and 1959, and they celebrated their 50th anniversary last year.
