BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) – The man who was sought in the rape of a 13-year-old Gosnell girl, committed suicide according to Blytheville Police.

Investigators say Kenneth Wayne Carter Jr. was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head in an abandoned home on Kenwood Street in Blytheville on February 22. After further investigation, police say the body had been there for an extended period of time.

Police say Carter was suspected of raping a 13-year-old girl in Gosnell in November of 2009. A warrant was issued for Carter, and police say the last time anyone reported seeing him was in Blytheville on November 20.

Police say the alleged rape took place around mid to early November.

In January, Region 8 News reported the story and that a member of Carter's family filed a missing person's report in late November.
