(Walnut Ridge, Ark.) - Donning pink t-shirts that declare "Fight Like a Girl," the Lady Eagles basketball team at Williams Baptist College is doing its part in the battle against cancer. The team has joined with the American Cancer Society to bring cancer awareness and prevention information to their fans in February.
Among other efforts, the Lady Eagles are participating in the Coaches vs. Cancer Text to Give program. During all of the home basketball games this month, fans can make a $5 donation to the American Cancer Society by texting the word coach to a designated number.
The team is wearing its pink shirts during warmups to help raise awareness, and the cancer society has set up an information table to provide fans with cancer information, screening guidelines, and an opportunity to purchase t-shirts like the team has been wearing.
To date, the Lady Eagles' efforts have helped raise $345 for the American Cancer Society, and the fund drive continues throughout the month of February.
