Missouri teen allegedly planned to kill classmates in Region 8

PUXICO, Mo. (AP) - A southeast Missouri teenager has been arrested and is undergoing a mental evaluation after allegedly threatening to kill 29 fellow students at Puxico High School.

Authorities told the Dexter Daily Statesman that the girl planned to kill her classmates on her birthday in March. She was arrested Feb. 11.

The girl is a juvenile and her name and age have not been released.

Authorities say the girl's plan called for her to persuade other students to activate a fire alarm. She would be on the roof and shoot students as they exited the building.

The parent of another student tipped school administrators about the plot. Authorities say the girl posted a photo of herself holding a high-powered rifle on a Facebook page, and had solicited help from other students for her plan.
