Man pleads guilty in fatal altercation

EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) - A Union County judge has sentenced a man to 25 years in prison for a fatal shooting outside a convenience store. Circuit Judge Hamilton Singleton sentenced Darren D. King on Thursday after King pleaded guilty to an amended charge of second-degree murder.

King was of fatally shooting 26-year-old Kevias T. Randle after the men were involved in a verbal altercation on Sept. 20 in the Express Way Convenience Store. Authorities say Randle and King argued at the convenience store, and another man, Thomas L. Lovett, stepped in and pushed King out of the business.

King told Singleton that he was the shooter and Lovett only tried to separate him and Randle. King's attorney couldn't be reached for comment late Friday.
