The WBC women's basketball team has knocked off a powerhouse in the American Midwest Conference Tournament. The Lady Eagles upset nationally ranked McKendree, 69-67, in the first round of the tournament Wednesday night.
The game was played at McKendree, which is ranked 12th in the NAIA and came into the conference tourney as the third seed.
WBC's Jessica Shepard led the game in scoring with 20 points. Brittney Jones had 15 points, and Rachel Looney added 13. Olivia Morris grabbed nine rebounds.
WBC (17-14) finished the regular season tied for fourth in the conference, but due to tie-breakers was seeded sixth in the tournament.
Williams now advances to play second seeded Columbia on Friday. That game will be played at Columbia starting at 7:00 p.m.
