ST. LOUIS (AP) - A signed first edition of Ernest Hemingway's novel "A Farewell to Arms" will be sold to benefit literacy programs supported by the Greater St. Louis Book Fair.
The fair takes place April 29 through May 2, but the Hemingway volume will be sold separately during Ivey-Selkirk Auctioneers' auction March 20-22.
Organizers of the fair say the rare Hemingway volume is valued at $5,500 to $6,500. A volunteer discovered it while sorting donations for the annual charity sale.
Clayton-based Ivey-Selkirk Auctioneers is waiving its fee to sell the Hemingway book.
