Cape Girardeau man wins change of venue in pliers assault case

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - A Cape Girardeau man accused of using a pliers to try to cut off his fiancee's ring finger will have his case heard in New Madrid County.

The Southeast Missourian reported Tuesday that Jason Robert won a change of venue.

Robert is charged with second- and third-degree assault.

According to a probable cause statement, Robert threatened to kill his girlfriend. The alleged assault occurred in January at the couple's home in Cape Girardeau.
