CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - An Arkansas Geological Survey geologist says there is no convincing evidence that recent earthquakes in the Greenbrier area are caused by natural gas drilling.
Geohazards supervisor Scott Ausbrooks said Monday the small earthquakes recorded - and sometimes felt - are much deeper than any of the production wells.
And Ausbrooks says there are more than 2,000 gas wells in the area. He says if there was a connection between the drilling and the earthquakes - it would be seen in the entire area of the wells.
