South Dakota State squeaks past Arkansas 3-2

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Eric Cain had two RBIs and South Dakota State pitchers allowed just four hits as the Jackrabbits held on to beat Arkansas 3-2 in college baseball.

The Razorbacks (8-3) narrowed South Dakota State's 3-1 lead in the ninth on Tuesday when Brett Eibner's sacrifice fly scored Zack Cox. The rally sputtered when Jarrod McKinney got the last out of the game.

Cain finished 1 for 4 and Jesse Sawyer had one RBI for South Dakota State (6-2). Collin Kuhn went 1 for 2 with one RBI for Arkansas.

Alex Oberle (1-0) allowed three hits and one run in 6 2-3 innings for South Dakota State. Trever Vermeulen got his first save.

Sam Murphy (0-1) allowed six hits and two runs in 3 1-3 innings for Arkansas.
