LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A report from Associated General Contractors of America shows the number of construction industry jobs fell from January 2009 to January 2010 in every state and the District of Columbia.
Arkansas had the fifth-lowest percentage of job losses at 6.2 percent. Oklahoma had the 11th lowest at 9.5 percent.
Association economist Ken Simonson says unseasonable weather conditions likely contributed to the fewer construction jobs from December 2009 to January 2010.
The percentage of construction jobs that disappeared in the 12 month period ranged from 1 percent in North Dakota to 29.9 percent in Nevada. Thirty-eight states and D.C. had job losses in the industry of 10 percent or more.
