Hot Springs, AR (KAIT) - State Finals Saturday started with a first for Westside.
Hunter Mickelson scored 21 points to help the Warriors claim the Arkansas Class 4A boys championship with a 52-51 victory over Huntsville. The game Saturday at Hot Springs wasn't decided until the final seconds, as Huntsville (31-6) missed a desperation 3-pointer with less than a second remaining on the clock.
Mickelson grabbed 13 rebounds and went 2-of-2 from the 3-point line, getting MVP honors. Brent Hufstelder and Brock Johnston had 14 points each for Westside (32-3).
The win is Westside's first state title in school history in basketball.
