ASU Bowling Finishes 4th At Music City Classic

SYMRNA, Tenn. (3/14/10) – The Arkansas State women's bowling team (72-36) finished fourth with an 11-4 record on the weekend at the Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt in Smyrna, Tenn.

ASU went into the last day of competition seeded third for the best four-of-seven baker format.  The Red Wolves topped fourth-seeded Sacred Heart in their first match of the day but fell to second-seeded Vanderbilt.  Arkansas State closed out the tournament with a loss to
Sacred Heart.

"I still foresee us going to nationals," said ASU head coach Justin Kostick.  "We didn't shoot spares as well today as did the rest of the weekend, but I think we performed well enough to continue in the post season."

Marissa Martinek finished the tournament fifth overall and was named to the all-tournament team.  Martinek posted a 203.5 weekend average and had a high-game of 259.

The Red Wolves now await a bid to the NCAA Collegiate Women's Bowling Championships, hosted by New Jersey City University.  The championship tournament will take place April 8-10 in North Brunswick, N.J.
