Students with disabilities speak out

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT-TV)- A panel discussion was held this afternoon at Arkansas State University.

Students, faculty and staff listened to eleven individuals with different forms of disabilities talk about their personal experiences.

Audience members learned about the groups special challenges and the ways they've learned to cope with their situations.

Students like Dennis Felton say it was an eye opening experience for them, "It puts disabilities and people with disabilities in a different light.  When you actually get to hear from them and what they go through."

Felton says their main goal from this event, and others scheduled this week, is to raise awareness of disabilities and the situations surrounding them.
