COPY-Murder investigation underway in Butler County - one man arrested

BUTLER COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - The Butler County Sheriff's Department confirms a man was shot and killed Wednesday night at a home on County Road 428.

According to the sheriff's department, a call came in reporting a man was down from a gunshot wound.

When they arrived on the scene the man was already dead - with a gunshot wound to the head.

The man was found lying on the front porch of a home. His name is not being released at this time.

The sheriff's department says witnesses saw a dispute at the home and several people, including the victim, were leaving when the shooting took place.

A suspect identified by the witnesses was spotted driving south on CR 428. The suspect, Randy Johnson of Poplar bluff, was arrested.

Johnson is currently being held in the Butler County jail awaiting formal charges.
