Authorities catch escaped inmate from New Madrid County

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) – An inmate, who escaped from the New Madrid County Jail over the weekend, has been caught in Blytheville.

According to the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department, Jermaine Spears was caught in Blytheville Friday. Sheriff Terry Stevens wouldn't give more information on the arrest at this time.

Spears escaped from his New Madrid County jail cell sometime Friday night or Saturday morning by climbing over the jail wall with an extension cord.

Spears was being held without bond on a first-degree assault charge.

Spears is originally from Steele, Missouri
