Bristol, TN (KAIT) - Batesville's Mark Martin started 13th in the Food City 500 in Bristol, but the starting spot proved to be unlucky.
He was in the top 10 in the early going, moved up to 2nd on Lap 218, but found trouble on Lap 341. Martin bumped into Greg Biffle, causing a 13 car chain reaction wreck in Turn 4. The accident collected Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, polesitter Joey Logano, and Jeff Gordon among many.
Kurt Busch led a race-high 275 laps, but Jimmie Johnson led the ones that mattered most. He won for the first time at Bristol Motor Speedway by driving from sixth to first in just three laps. He plowed through the field on a restart with 10 laps to go Sunday, giving him his third victory this season and the 50th of his career.
Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth restarted side-by-side as leaders. Kenseth had trouble at the line and traffic stacked up behind him. That allowed Johnson, who restarted in second, to grab four quick spots.
