DNR alleges violations by Hayti Heights

HAYTI HEIGHTS, Mo. (AP) - The Missouri Department of Natural Resources alleges numerous Safe Drinking Water Law and Clean Water Law violations by the southeast Missouri town of Hayti Heights, and is asking the state attorney general's office to pursue legal action.

The DNR cites several violations at the Hayti Heights public drinking water utility and wastewater collection system. The agency on Monday asked the attorney general's office to ensure that Hayti Heights develops and implements remedies.

A phone call to Hayti Heights City Hall on Tuesday was unanswered.

The DNR cites more than a dozen Safe Drinking Water Law violations, including failure to use a certified operator, failure to maintain adequate records and failure to monitor quality.
