GATLINBURG, Tenn. (AP) - National Park Service officials hope to soon reopen a section of Little River Road that was closed by a rock slide.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park spokesman Bob Miller said Tuesday a crew scraping loose rock expected to complete the job at midday.
The crane then will be dismantled and the pavement repaired.
An eight-mile stretch of the road near Metcalf Bottoms was closed early Thursday after rocks, soil and debris tumbled from a rock face.
Miller said officials hoped to reopen the section late Tuesday.
