High Five: Lady Bison Golf wins UWG Invitational

VILLA RICA, Ga. (KAIT) – The Harding women's golf team sliced a remarkable 19 strokes off its round one total to win the West Georgia Invitational by one stroke Tuesday. It was Harding's first tournament victory of the season and the fifth in program history.

Harding opened with a first round total of 356 on a cold and rainy Monday at the Mirror Lake Golf Club and trailed first-round leader Montevallo by 13 strokes. Tuesday was a different story as the Lady Bisons shot 337, led by So-Yun Kim's 76 and Whitney Ohlhausen's 77, for a two-round 693. West Georgia dropped 30 strokes off its opening round total but came up one stroke short at 694.

Ohlhausen, a freshman from Dallas, Texas, finished second individually with a 158. Montevallo's Emily Gibson shot 74-76—150 to win the tournament. It was Ohlhausen's third top-five finish in six tournaments this season. Kim also notched her third top-five finish, tying for fifth with a 167.

Other Harding finishers included Tara Fuchs (19th, 184), Ragan Muncy (22nd, 186) and Evelyn Poteet (23rd, 187).

The victory for Harding was its first on a course outside of Arkansas, and the eight-team field was the largest ever in a Lady Bison tournament championship.
