Landing gear collapses plane skids at Region 8 airport

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT) - Caruthersville Police reported a plane made a crash landing at the Caruthersville Municipal Airport Tuesday evening.

According to the Caruthersville Police Department, they received a call that a plane was making an emergency landing with a mechanical problem.

Upon landing the airplane's landing gear collapsed and caused the 1976 Cessna to skid across the runway.

When police arrived, officers found the airplane nose down after the plane skidded 900 feet before coming to a complete stop.

The pilot has been identified as Glen Haynes of Caruthersville.

He was not injured in the crash.
