JACKSON, Tenn. (KAIT) - The Lady Eagles softball team notched two big upset wins Wednesday, sweeping 17th ranked Union University on the road. WBC won the first game, 6-0, and then rolled to another win in the nightcap, 8-3, in Jackson, Tenn.
Freshman Karisa Hendrix pitched both games and earned both wins for WBC. In the first game, Hendrix pitched a two-hit shutout, hurling 10 strikeouts and only two walks. Pitching the nightcap, she allowed three runs on seven hits. She had three strikeouts, two hit batters and one walk. She went the full seven innings in both contests.
The Lady Eagles also had a great day offensively, knocking nine hits in the first game and 10 hits in the second. Marissa Hoehn went 5-for-7 on the afternoon with four runs scored. Kim Emmons was 5-for-8 with four runs and four RBIs. Ashley Boyles went 4-for-7 with four RBIs.
Union entered the doubleheader ranked 17th in NAIA Division I.
The Lady Eagles improve to 19-8 on the season. They get the rest of the spring break week off, and next play at home on Friday, April 2, hosting American Midwest Conference foe Park University at 2:00 p.m.
