Fatal fall from cliff near ruled an accident

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (AP) - Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says a fall from a cliff near the White River that killed a Mountain Home man and injured a woman was an accident.

37-year-old Charles Ragland died in the fall in December while 40-year-old Elizabeth Hubbard of Mountain Home was seriously injured.

Authorities believe the two fell between 11 p.m. Dec. 8 and 4 a.m. Dec. 9 and say both were legally intoxicated at the time.

Montgomery said a National Parks Service fall analysis team found evidence at the scene that was "consistent with a fall from a disoriented victim."
