2 charged in shooting death of Springfield teen

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Two Springfield men have been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 17-year-old Hillcrest High School student.

The Springfield News-Leader reports that James C. Duke and Jordan Lee Martin, both 18, were charged Thursday in the death of Kody Ray, who was shot Sunday on the front porch of his home.

The two suspects are being held in Greene County Jail without bond.

A probable cause statements says Ray's death came after fights at Hillcrest High School on Feb. 25 and at Springfield's Battlefield Mall March 19. The statement says Martin thought Ray was going to testify against him in an upcoming court case.

Court documents name Duke as the shooter.
