NEW MADRID, MO (KFVS) - Jermaine Spears, an inmate who escaped the New Madrid County Jail last week, is back in police custody.
New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens says Spears was located in Blytheville, Arkansas. No further information about his capture was immediately available.
Stevens said Spears, 28, somehow got out of his cell last Friday night or early Saturday morning, got into the recreation yard, used extension cords to make a rope and climbed over the wall.
Spears had been in the New Madrid County Jail since May of 2009, after being arrested following a violent attack and robbery at Jim's Jewelry and Pawn Shop in Hayti.
