MARKED TREE, AR (KAIT) – A convicted sex offender made his first court appearance Monday morning after police arrested him for doing carpentry work at a local daycare.
According to the Marked Tree Police, Kenneth Gilmore was in a Poinsett County Courtroom Monday facing felony charges of being a sex offender on school grounds. The judge set Gilmore's bond at $100,000 cash only, and Gilmore remains in the Marked Tree Jail.
On March 19 Marked Tree Police said they received an anonymous tip of a sex offender doing carpentry work at the Child of Mine daycare in Marked Tree. Gilmore is a High Level 3 Sex Offender, and had been working at the daycare during business hours while children were present.
Police made Gilmore gather his belongings and escorted him from school grounds. Gilmore is a relative of Wynetta Gilmore who owns the daycare. She has declined comment on camera when Region 8 News contacted her last week.
Marked Tree Police has turned the investigation into the daycare over to the Arkansas Department of Human Services.
Gilmore is next due in a Poinsett County Court on May 24.
