Red Wolves in ninth place at UALR Women’s Golf Classic

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KAIT) – The Arkansas State women's golf team is in ninth place among 18 teams at the UALR Women's Golf Classic after posting a combined 613 for the first two rounds of action played at Diamante Country Club on Monday.

ASU opened the tournament with a first-round 306 and then posted a 307 for second round, ending the day within three strokes of eighth-place Wichita State and 10 strokes of fifth-place Western Michigan. Middle Tennessee leads the field after posting a 588, while Oral Roberts in in second place with a 591 and UALR in third with a 593.

The Red Wolves were led by Cassie Huffer, who carded a 150 to finish the first two rounds tied for 16th place. Huffer shot a 76 and 74 for the first two rounds, respectively, and her second-round score tied Anna Carling for the lowest of the day among all five competing ASU players.

Carling followed Huffer with a 153 (74-79), which left her tied for 32nd place. Adrian Sportsman is tied for 37th place with a 155 and Jennifer Welch and Jennifer Loiacano are tied for 46th place after both recorded a 157.

The tournament's third and final round will begin Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m.
