Police: 15-year-old non-licensed driver hits 6-year-old girl in Region 8

NEW MADRID COUNTY, MO (KAIT) – A 6-year-old girl is in serious condition after being hit by a car.

According to New Madrid County Police Chief Claude McFerren , the accident happened Monday afternoon at the Pinnell Street Apartments in New Madrid County.

Police say a 15-year-old kid was driving, when they drove off the road and hit the girl. The 15-year-old did not have a valid permit or license, but an 18-year-old was in the car.

The driver of the car was questioned and released to parents. Sheriff McFerren said it will be up to the juvenile authorities on whether or not charges will be filed in this case.

The 6-year-old girl is in a Memphis hospital in serious condition.
