Region 8 daycare owner back in court after sex offender allowed on campus

POINSETT CO, AR (KAIT) – A Region 8 daycare owner who was arrested after police say she allowed her uncle, a convicted sex offender, to do repair work at her daycare.

According to Poinsett County Deputy Prosecutor Marty Lilly, Yenta Gilmore was in court Friday afternoon and had her case continued until November.

Gilmore is charged with first degree endangering the welfare of a minor after police say her uncle, Kenneth Gilmore a high level 3 convicted sex offender, was allowed to do repair work at the Child of Mine daycare in Marked Tree back in March.

Yenta Gilmore was licensed to take care of 100 children, and the daycare was shut down for a few weeks, but reopened under new management.

Kenneth Gilmore was arrested on March 26, and charged with violating sex offender laws by being a convicted sex offender on school grounds. He's due back in court on September 22.
