Central Baptist Softball Wins 34th Straight Game Tuesday Afternoon

Batesville (Lyon) - Central Baptist Mustangs scored two runs in the top of the seventh inninng to earn a 4-3 victory over Lyon College and keep their unbeaten streak alive in game two of a Lady Mustang sweep on Tuesday at House Field.
The Pipers (11-15) also lost game one by a score of 9-1 in six innings. Central Baptist (34-0) has not lost a game in 34 outings this season and is 3-0 in one-run contests.
Lyon center fielder Kristi Kelley had five hits in the doubleheader and scored three runs. Infielder Helen Zyjewski had three hits and drove in three in the twinbill. Zyjewski, with at least a hit in both ends of the doubleheader, has now hit in nine straight ballgames, dating back to March 6th.
In game two, Lyon led 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth when the Pipers scored runs on a Megan Renn RBI triple and a Helen Zyjewski RBI single. CBC rallied for a run in the top of the sixth on a Kayla Lucas solo homer to close to within one run of the lead and then plated two runs in the top of the seventh to reclaim the advantage. CBC starter Casey Hammons then set the Pipers down in the bottom of the seventh to seal the victory.
Tenequa Martin (3-4) took the hard-luck loss for Lyon in game two with 6 2/3 innings of eight-hit ball with two walks and three strikeouts.
Cassie White (2-4) suffered defeat for the Pipers in game one.
