SEARCY, Ark.(KAIT) - Harding University freshman Lucas Waddell was named Gulf South Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, his first career conference honor.
Waddell, a native of Ladner, British Columbia, pitched a two-hit shutout last Tuesday against Central Baptist, a 5-0 victory for Harding. It was his second shutout of the season. He struck out three and walked none and needed only 65 pitches for the complete game.
Waddell is the third different Harding pitcher to earn the conference's weekly honor this season. Troy Keith and Kyle Cline has also won the award.
Overall, Waddell has a 3-1 record and a team-leading 2.67 ERA. In 27.0 innings, he has struck out 15 hitters and walked only six. Opponents are batting only .233 off the right-hander.
